Madison County Detention Center Officer Arrested on Drug-Related Charges

A 23-year-old Madison County Detention Center officer, Tarmaine Edward Knight, has been arrested on drug-related charges. He faces charges of conspiracy to commit a controlled substance crime (distribution) and possession of marijuana.
According to a Huntsville Police Department spokesperson, agents from the North Alabama Drug Task Force (NADTF) received information indicating that Knight intended to smuggle narcotics into the Madison County Jail while serving as a detention officer. As of now, HPD has no evidence to suggest that Knight successfully smuggled drugs into the jail.
The Madison County Sheriff’s Office (MCSO) disclosed that Knight had been working as a detention officer for approximately four months before his arrest. Upon learning of the investigation and subsequent arrest, MCSO swiftly terminated his employment.
The investigation is ongoing, and HPD has stated that additional charges are likely to be brought against Knight as they continue their inquiries.
