The trial of former Scottsboro police officer Ryan Manning, charged with domestic violence and child abuse, is ongoing. In 2021, doctors discovered 15 broken bones in Manning’s daughter when she was just eight weeks old. The defense called a witness who suggested metabolic bone disease and Vitamin D deficiency as a possible explanation for the baby’s injuries. However, other pediatricians who testified disagreed with this explanation. Manning recalled a night where he slightly dozed off while holding his daughter, resulting in an abrupt catch. The defense played an audio recording of Manning’s wife saying she can’t imagine him doing anything to hurt the baby. The trial continues on Thursday.
