Falkville Man Arrested and Indicted for Beating Young Child

A criminal indictment has been issued by a grand jury against a resident of Falkville, implicating him in a case of child abuse stemming from allegations of assaulting his former girlfriend’s one-year-old daughter.
Dalton Marsh, aged 21, was taken into custody in June following claims made in court documents that he subjected the infant to physical harm “in the vicinity of her head.” Family-provided images paint a grim picture of the aftermath of these alleged assaults, with bruises evident on little Acelynn’s face.
Shania Casey, the mother of Acelynn, recounted the events that led to this distressing incident. On May 4, 2023, she entrusted her child to Marsh, her then-boyfriend, while she briefly entered a fast-food establishment. Upon returning within a span of fewer than 10 minutes, Casey was met with the sight of Marsh holding Acelynn forcibly against his chest, seated in the driver’s seat of the vehicle, as the baby wailed and sobbed.
Upon closer examination, Casey observed numerous bruises and marks on her daughter’s face and head. Confronting Marsh about the injuries, he purportedly explained that he had removed Acelynn from her car seat due to her vomiting. He claimed that while he was cleaning up the mess, the baby managed to wriggle out of his grasp, leading to a fall against the car seat and the door frame, resulting in the visible bruises.
Four days following the incident in question, Marsh reportedly confessed to physically abusing Acelynn during interviews with investigators.
Acelynn’s grandmother, Jennifer Douthitt, disclosed that the toddler’s condition has shown improvement since the incident; however, she continues to experience sleep terrors and exhibits unease around unfamiliar men. Douthitt fondly described Acelynn as spirited and lively, brimming with vitality.
A Facebook group named “Justice For Acelynn” has been actively sharing updates on the child’s recovery and the progress of legal proceedings against Marsh.
Court records from August 17 reveal that Marsh has been formally indicted by a grand jury in Cullman County. When initially apprehended, he was granted bail set at $15,000. Subsequently, his defense team sought a reduction in his bond amount through a formal motion.
